This project started at the end of 2018 in Christchurch when we, the team at NZLA, wanted to create a way to acknowledge the great people in our community. We had more passion than money but where there’s a will there’s a way.
The NZLAs are a recognition of Latin Americans living in New Zealand and those from other parts of the world who seek to preserve our culture and traditions. These awards are divided into four major areas of Art and Culture, Sports, Entertainment, and Business, as well as a special category called Latin Attitude.
This event is organized and produced by South Media Entertainment, who are responsible for the staging and the execution of the event, but are not responsible for the nominations and winners, who are chosen by you and your friends through the forms on our website www.nzla.co.nz
The main objective of these awards is to recognize, value, reward, encourage, and highlight the activities carried out by the Latin American community in New Zealand in various disciplines, thereby promoting their development and encouraging nominees to continue working on their respective areas for the growth of artists, entrepreneurs, athletes and/or Latin persons or entities.
The spirit of these awards is not the competition, on the contrary, it is the sense of community and the generation of networks among everyone involved in order to develop and grow our Latin American culture.
We invite you all to be part of this Latino party, to spread and create powerful bonds that help us continue to make an important presence in the life of New Zealand.
